What it is
L-Citrulline HCL is the hydrochloride salt form of L-Citrulline, an amino acid first identified in watermelon. It's included in MemoClear for what it becomes once inside the body, more than for a direct effect of its own.
How it works
Citrulline largely bypasses first-pass liver metabolism, meaning more of it survives to reach the kidneys, where it's converted into arginine and released into circulation — effectively recycling raw material for continued nitric oxide production.
The "recycling" effect
Arginine converts into nitric oxide and citrulline as byproducts; citrulline then converts back into arginine, which can be used again. This cycle is why MemoClear pairs citrulline with its arginine sources rather than relying on arginine alone.
Safety notes
L-Citrulline HCL is generally well tolerated at supplement doses. Because it raises arginine and nitric-oxide activity, the same caution applies: consult a doctor if you take blood pressure medication or vasodilators.
